I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
Its that time of the year again. Where new year resolutions go unaccomplished and new ones are on the way. I never really cared much about Christmas. Its origins are that it celebrates the birth of christ orginally called in old English cristes masse, or "Christ's mass ". It was suppose to celebrate the birth of christ. But thru centuries of evolution, it has become an occasion of christmas card giving, present exchanging, family and old long time friends gathering. As they put it, A season of sharing and giving. Truth is , its has turned into a money making event, where commercial companies seize to make this joyous occasion into a lucrative opportunity.
Like every other year for the past 21 years, I look destined to spend it without a significant other. I'd have gotten used to this solitude but seeing the multitude of couples on the Orchard streets, just makes my heart snow heavier.
I have forgotten where I first got this notion of a white christmas, in the midst of commercials bombardment, internet saturation and songs that seranade of a white christmas. The closest I could get to christmas is probably at Jurong east Ice skating ring, which i intend to visit sometime or another. How I envy people living in places with four seasons, where snow blankets entire areas and children frolic around in red 'christmasy' mood.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas that only exist in my heart.
