STOP FUEL HIKES!!
I wonder what it would be like to actually protest for something that you believe shouldn't happen.Something that you're passionate about, something you strongly believe corrupts the moral fabric of the nation or something that you believe the congregration of protesting people could change. Wouldn't that be something. I felt a burning desire to do the same thing when I saw the Indonesian students on the news taking to the streets protesting against the fuel hike. They rant , they dressed themselves up, putting banners, burned stuff, chanting in unison , hurl stones at the anti-riot. All of these seemed like huge fun to me., as long as noone got hurt, that is. Now I believe our nation's leader wouldn't approve of such movement, afterall, there used to be a time in Singapore where riots happened once in a few days, and that led to the dismembering of the nation. They vowed never to let it happen again. Thus, you can't get nothing of that in Singapore. Nowadays, even four people silent protesting outside CPF gets a massive number of law enforcers activated. Still, I wouldn't mind experiencing protesting for a cause sometime.
Just when you thought that being a taxi driver was hard enough in Singapore, with the fuel hikes and cab fare relatively remained the same, meaning less income, smokers are facing restrictions in areas where they can smoke. That includes public areas, like pubs, bus interchange, community centres and 80% of a coffeeshop. It's doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the government wishes to cut down on the number of smokers to maybe improve the wellness of the people by making smoking as unpleasurable and inconvenient as possible. So what happens if you're a taxi driver who smokes? Tough luck, pal.
The world is not fair. The only thing that is fair in this world is time. Time treats everyone equally, time gives everyone 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. What you do with that time is entirely up to you. If you wish to slack all your time away, so be it.
