I just had this crazy idea. Zidane was actually hit by the imperious curse and the fourth official, who told the referee to card Zidane, is actually a death eater! that'll explain why Zidane did what he did! Little did we know that the dark lord actually favours Italy over France. So he cast a spell on Materazzi to make him say what he did to annoy Zidane so Zidane would actually attack him giving proof that he was actally annoyed or something. So this would not alarm the minstry of magic!
